We are happy to announce that we have been awarded a grant from Energimyndigheten

Heating sludge

Background:

Through our extensive experience in providing water filtration solutions for residential properties, we have identified a common issue among our customers: corrosion in their pipes. This corrosion primarily occurs due to dissolved oxygen entering the water system, often through leaks. Oxygen-induced corrosion leads to the accumulation of rust and iron particles in various components such as radiators, boilers, and heat exchangers. As a result, the system’s heat transfer efficiency decreases and pressure losses increase, ultimately leading to a significant reduction in the overall performance of the system.

The Project

Important results from the project

To address the challenge of corrosion and dissolved oxygen in water systems, our project has focused on enhancing our MEBB solution to increase the efficiency and durability of cooling and heating systems for our customers. Our MEBB+ solution integrates proprietary water filtration technology MEBB with Internet of Things (IoT) technology, enabling real-time monitoring of dissolved oxygen levels in the system.

The solution was tested in three buildings constructed in different time periods (1920s, 1990s, and 2010s). During these experiments, we monitored dissolved oxygen levels and conducted comprehensive water quality analyses both before and after filtration.

Previous tests with the MEBB project demonstrated energy savings of 4-7% when system cleaning is performed after a few years of operation. The results of the MEBB+ project align with these findings, showing an average energy savings of approximately 7.3%.

Expected long term effects

  • Reduction of energy demand: By reducing corrosion and extending the life of the water system, energy consumption can be significantly decreased.
  • Lower Operating Costs: Maintenance service providers can minimize maintenance actions by monitoring oxygen levels, potentially reducing costs for property owners (and possibly rents and charges for residents).
  • Lower Environmental Impact: Our solution drastically reduces the need for chemicals and new components during maintenance, contributing to a more sustainable approach
