Durch unsere langjährige Erfahrung in der Bereitstellung von Wasserfiltersystemen für Wohngebäude haben wir ein häufig auftretendes Problem bei unseren Kunden festgestellt: Korrosion in ihren Rohren. Diese Korrosion entsteht hauptsächlich durch gelösten Sauerstoff, der oft durch Leckagen in das Wassersystem eindringt. Sauerstoffinduzierte Korrosion führt zur Ansammlung von Rost und Eisenpartikeln in verschiedenen Komponenten wie Heizkörpern, Kesseln und Wärmetauschern. Infolgedessen verringert sich die Wärmeübertragungseffizienz des Systems und der Druckverlust steigt, was letztendlich zu einer erheblichen Minderung der Gesamtleistung des Systems führt.

This project builds on the results and observations from an earlier project, MEBB.

The project

To address the challenge of corrosion and dissolved oxygen in water systems, this project has focused on enhancing our MEBB solution to increase the efficiency and durability of cooling and heating systems for our customers. Our MEBB+ solution integrates our proprietary water filtration technology MEBB with Internet of Things (IoT) technology, enabling real-time monitoring of dissolved oxygen levels in the system.

The solution was tested in three buildings constructed during different time periods: the 1920s, 1990s, and 2010s.

Results

During our experiments, we monitored dissolved oxygen levels and conducted comprehensive water quality analyses both before and after filtration.

Previous tests with the MEBB project demonstrated energy savings of 4-7 % when system cleaning is performed after a few years of operation. The results using the improved MEBB+ technology align with our previous findings, showing an average energy savings of approximately 7.3 %.

Erwartete langfristige Auswirkungen

  • Verringerung des Energiebedarfs: by reducing corrosion and extending the life of the water system, energy consumption can be significantly decreased.
  • Lower operating costs: maintenance service providers can minimize maintenance actions by monitoring oxygen levels, potentially reducing costs for property owners (and possibly rents and charges for residents).
  • Lower environmental impact: our solution drastically reduces the need for chemicals and new components during maintenance, contributing to a more sustainable approach
