We are happy to announce that we have been awarded a grant for Innovative Startups by the Swedish Innovation Agency Vinnova.
Background:
We at Heation have gained experience from our work within industrial filtration and are applying it to large commercial and residential real estates. Specifically, we are working with companies that serve real estate and directly with real estate owners to study the best way to improve heating efficiency by cleaning heating systems.
Over time, dirt and various kinds of particles can accumulate in pipes, gradually reducing their internal diameter and creating blockages. This buildup can impede the flow of water, leading to decreased water pressure, inefficient system performance, and potential damage to the plumbing infrastructure. Regular maintenance and cleaning are essential to prevent these issues and ensure optimal water flow and system longevity.
The Project
Important results from the project
The project focused on validating and assessing the technical, commercial and financial feasibility of an innovative filter unit – the MEBB prototype. The filter unit aims to clean water-based heating and cooling systems of existing buildings, while the heating systems are in operation. The unit takes away impurities from the piping system and heating elements, increasing the heat transfer and allowing a better operation of the different system elements.
Expected long term effects
- Reduction of energy demand: this has a direct impact in the heating/cooling cost and the overall building carbon emissions;
- Increased water flow in heating and cooling systems;
- Lower operational costs: maintenance service providers can minimise maintenance actions and, as a possible consequence, can diminish costs for building owners (and possibly rents and fees for residents);
- Lower environmental impact: our solution drastically decreases the need for chemicals and new components in maintenance.
