Reverse Osmosis (RO) systems are broadly used in many industries to improve water quality: from desalination of sea water, purification of water used in industries such as food or pharmaceutical, to the purification of waste water.

It is important for these plants to work as efficiently as possible to optimize water and energy consumption. One problem RO plants face is the deterioration of the membrane; therefore it is highly important to install an adequate pre-filtration system prior to the RO plant.

In this application, our client is a company specialized in desalination plants using high-pressure Reverse Osmosis (RO) systems. Due to the higher pressure of the system, traditional RO pre-filters can’t be used.

Our solution: a custom prime-phin as a protection filter, with a bag filter housing designed for an operating pressure up to 16 bar. In addition, due to the wide range of filtration degrees available for the bags, the filter is easily adapted to the filtration requirements of the RO system.
